Barcelona Fall Program
The 12-week Barcelona Fall Program is designed for students seeking to immerse themselves in STEM coursework and Spanish and Catalan culture. Participants attend small classes (about 10-20 students) under the supervision of Georgia Tech faculty. Program-related excursions include visits to research centers, a local scientific industry hub, and Catalan and Spanish cultural sites. While residing at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, participants have the opportunity to engage in social and professional development activities with local students and faculty.
BEST-Lyon, France Program
The Biomolecular Engineering, Science, and Technology (BEST) program program combines study at Georgia Tech with a summer experience at CPE Lyon, a French university with a rich history in the chemical sciences, engineering, and technology. Participants can learn about cutting-edge science through site visits in the region and explore the inventions of Louis Pasteur, Victor Grignard, and Pierre and Marie Curie while studying in Lyon, France’s “second-city.”
Epigenetics, Environment, and Health in Costa Rica Program
This summer program in Costa Rica provides a comprehensive understanding of the intersection of epigenetics, environment, health, bioethics, and sustainability against the backdrop of the country's extraordinary biodiversity. It includes one month abroad and combines virtual coursework, in-person lectures, and excursions to diverse regions of the country — from bustling cities to remote research outposts.
Pacific Program
The Pacific Program takes place during the spring semester. Students spend the first six weeks in New Zealand and the second six weeks in Australia. Program activities include scenic hikes at Lake Tekapo in New Zealand, the exploration of the science, history, and local cultures of New Zealand and Australia, and opportunities to learn about the ecosystems of the Great Barrier Reef and Daintree Rainforest through site visits and field experiences.
Scotland Summer Program
As part of the Scotland Summer Program, participants live in Edinburgh for approximately six weeks while earning six to eight credit hours in Georgia Tech psychology, neuroscience, or liberal arts courses. In addition to their academic studies, students explore local cultural and traditions through immersive experiences and guided excursions. Program highlights include visits to Edinburgh Castle, the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the Surgeons' Hall Museums, the Scottish Highlands, and Edinburgh’s Old and New Towns, both UNESCO World Heritage sites.
Stress and Happiness in Italy Program
Psychology 3000: Stress, Anxiety, and Happiness combines coursework on the science and culture of stress and well-being with a two-week educational experience in southern Italy. Students learn and discuss the physiology of the stress response and explore cultural differences in stress management while being immersed in Italian culture and interacting with locals. The program includes experiences such as thermal baths, yoga, and cooking classes, as well as visits to Salerno, Capri, Sorrento, Amalfi, Positano, and Pompeii.
